Hi! My name is Eric Fogle, and I am a 5th & 6th grade Librarian in the Seneca Valley School District. My school is located approximately 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh, PA. In my role, I service 630+ students as a librarian and STEAM teacher.
In my classroom, my students work on group projects that span many weeks. My students work very hard in my classroom, despite the fact that I do not give grades! We focus a lot on Authentic Assessment, which puts student work front-and-center when projects are completed. Annually, my students compete in a “CIRC Tank” event, where they pitch an invention in front of community member judges. It is an amazing experience that my students never forget.
My students work closely with various technology in my classroom such as a Laser Cutter, vinyl cutter, CNC router, 3D Printer, Sphero robots, Hummingbird Robotic kits, Micro:bits, littleBits, Makey-Makeys, and so much more! Fortunately, I am lucky enough to co-teach with another teacher, and we work together to design lessons that are highly engaging and cross-curricular. I also work closely with the classroom teachers to also make sure my lessons add value to the core curriculum.
